Extradition of Mr. Davud Davudov, a citizen of the Russian Federation, who is accused of an attempted murder of the Deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Dagestan, to Russia from Germany
Today, further to the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of Germany are extraditing to Russia Mr D. Davudov, a citizen of the Russian Federation.
It has been detected that in April 2002 Davudov who was a member of the group of persons made an attempt to commit murder of Mr M.-R.M. Omarov, a Deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Dagestan. As a result of shooting, the assistant of the deputy and his two bodyguards were killed. Four people, who were close to the place of the accident, got gunfire injuries of different of different types of gravity.
Since 2005 Davudov has been residing in the territory of Germany. In March 2007 he was detained in Hannover (Germany) and was convicted and sentenced for thefts and robberies, committed on the territory of Germany. While he was serving his sentence in a German prison, it became known that Davudov was involved in attempted murder of Mr. M.-R.M. Omarov, a Deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Dagestan, in the city of Makhachkala in 2002.
In December 2008 the Russian law enforcement agencies announced the international search for Davudov.
In March 2009 the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation forwarded a request on the extradition of Davudov to the Federal Ministry of Justice of the Federal Republic of Germany.
In April 2009 the term of serving the sentence of the German court for Mr. Davudov expired and since then the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation had been insistently seeking his extradition to Russia. Moreover, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, as the central Russian authority on the extradition issues providing additional guarantees on observance of the rights of the above mentioned person to the German counterparts.
Due to the fact that the Russian Federation has shown itself as a reliable partner, specifically with the colleagues from the Federal Republic of Germany, the German authorities passed a decision to extradite Davudov to Russia in February 2010.
