Today, at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of Belarus are extraditing to Russia Sergei Voronenko, a citizen of the Russian Federation.
The investigation bodies accuse Voronenko of the commission of three crimes, specified by Article 159 (4) (fraud, that is the stealing of another's property by means of deceit and abuse of trust on an especially large scale), two crimes, specified by Article 159 (4) (fraud, that is the stealing of another's property by means of deceit and abuse of trust on a large scale) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

Due to the fact that Voronenko had escaped from the bodies of preliminary investigation, his international search was announced in December 2009, and at the same time he was detained on the territory of the Republic of Belarus.

In January 2010, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation forwarded a request on the extradition of Voronenko to the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Belarus with a view to prosecute him.

As a result of close and well-established cooperation between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and competent authorities of the Republic of Belarus, in March 2010 the latter made a decision to comply with the request for the extradition of Voronenko to the Russian Federation.
