About extradition from Spain to Russia of citizen of the Russian Federation Armen Arutyunyan, accused of committing robbery and homicide

Today upon the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation competent authorities of the Kingdom of Spain extradite citizen of the Russian Federation Armen Arutyunyan to Russia.

He is accused by the investigative authorities of committing of crimes provided in Article 162 (“b” “c”, 3) (as amended by the Federal Law of 13 June 1996 ¹ 63-FZ) (robbery that is attack for the purpose of stealing another’s property committed with application of violence dangerous for life or health, by group of persons by prior collusion, for the purpose of taking possession of property on an especially large scale, with causing of grave harm to the health of victim), Article 105 (“g” “h”, 2) (homicide, that is intentional infliction of death to another person, committed by group of persons by prior collusion, connected with robbery) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

The Investigative Division for city of Krasnodar of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee at the Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation for Krasnodar Region is inquiring into criminal matter upon charges in respect of Arutyunyan.

It was established that in February 1999 citizen of the Russian Federation Armen Arutyunyan, having preliminary conspiracy with accomplice of the crime entered flat situated in the city of Krasnodar, where using violence they demanded from landlady that she gives them money and valuables. After woman has showed the place for holding of money and valuables, Arutyunyan and his accomplice strangled the victim using scotch tape, then they acquired money and valuables for the general amount of 103 thousand roubles and escaped the crime scene.

In July 2003 Arutyunyan, who escaped the criminal justice, was declared federally wanted, and in March 2007 – internationally wanted (accomplice of a crime in 2003 was convicted by the Regional Krasnodar Court to 16 years of deprivation of freedom).

In October 2009 National Central Bureau of Interpol Spain informed of satisfaction of the Russian request for extradition of the mentioned person.

Today Armen Arutyunyan, accompanied by officers of Russian bureau of Interpol and Federal Service for Execution of Punishment, is being extradited to Russia.
