The representative of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation re-elected to the Bureau of GRECO

The elections of the Vice-President and Members of the Bureau (the highest executive body) of GRECO took place at the 74th Plenary Meeting of the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) in Strasbourg for the duration of the new GRECO’s evaluation round starting in 2017 on the prevention of corruption and the promotion of integrity in central governments and law enforcement agencies.
The Russian delegation at this event was represented by its head - the First Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Alexander Buksman and an active member of the GRECO’s Bureau - Deputy Head of Department for Supervision over Compliance of the Anti-Corruption Legislation Mr. Aslan Yusufov who was nominated for re-election by the Russian delegation.
In accordance with GRECO’s Statute and the Rules of Procedure, the Bureau includes the President and the Vice-President and five other persons elected by the GRECO by the majority of vote among the representatives of the members entitled to vote.
The Russian representative Aslan Yusufov was elected to the GRECO’s Bureau in the first round of vote with 34 votes out of 48.
Also elected as Bureau members were: Vita Habjan-Barborič (Slovenia), Ernst Gnägi (Switzerland), David Meyer (United Kingdom) and Helena Lisuchova (Czech Republic). Marin Mrčela (Croatia) retained the position of the GRECO President, and Agnes Maitrepierre (France) was elected Vice-President.
It is noteworthy that the key competences of the Bureau as the highest executive body include the elaboration of an annual program of GRECO activities, its draft budget, organization of the country visits by evaluation team, including proposals on their nomination, preparation of GRECO plenary meetings and so on.
