Today, on 27 July 2016, a meeting was held in the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia between the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chaika and the Prosecutor General of the Arab Republic of Egypt Nabil Sadek.

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Victor Grin, Minister of Civil Aviation of the Arab Republic of Egypt Sherif Attia, Chairman of the Air Incidents Investigations Committee at the Ministry of Civil Aviation of the of the Arab Republic of Egypt Aiman Elmukadem, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt in the Russian Federation Mukhammed Elbadri, and heads of subdivisions of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation.

In his welcome address Yuri Chaika emphasized the importance of strengthening and further development of mutual cooperation between the prosecutor’s offices of the two states.

During the meeting Heads of the offices signed a Memorandum on Cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Offices of the Russian Federation and the Arab Republic of Egypt.

Yuri Chaika expressed confidence that its implementation will enable to reach an essentially new level, raise the efficiency of joint efforts against the most dangerous challenges and threats to public security.

In addition, in the framework of the Memorandum, the prosecutors will be able to exchange work experience and the best practices on vital areas of activities of the prosecutor’s offices of the two states, discuss the existing problems, elaborate coordinated approaches to the decision of the common tasks to be achieved.

Yuri Chaika stressed that the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation also has the potential for developing cooperation at multi-level international fora, for example, within the framework of the International Association of Prosecutors, being its active participant.

Furthermore, the Heads of the Offices also discussed various issues of cooperation in the legal area and in combating international crime.

The Prosecutor General of the Arab Republic of Egypt Nabil Sadek expressed his readiness, if necessary, to provide to the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office and other concerned departments the information about the status of the investigation into the Boeing A321 plane crash in October 2015.
