Today, on 30 May 2017, the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia hosted the meeting between Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika and Chief Prosecutor of the Republic of Bulgaria Sotir Tsatsarov.
The event was attended by Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Saak Karapetyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Russian Federation Boyko Kotsev, Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Republic of Bulgaria - Head of the Supreme Administrative Prosecutor's Office Asya Petrova, as well as heads of the subdivisions of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and representatives of the Bulgarian delegation.
The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation said that the peoples of Russia and Bulgaria had always been very close. They are tied by common roots, history, alphabet and religion of the majority of citizens. Last week a joint holiday was marked - the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture.
Prosecutors of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Bulgaria are professionals in their field, who share common goals such as crime combating, including its most dangerous manifestations - terrorism and corruption. Last year the program of cooperation was completed. The parties exchanged experience in combating terrorism and corruption, recovery of assets derived from crime.
The Cooperation Agreement has been in place between the prosecution agencies of the two states that was signed in Sofia in 2008.
Yuri Chaika noted the willingness of the Russian party to promote interaction and work on improving cooperation in the area of extradition and legal assistance in criminal matters.
