During the official visit of the delegation of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation to Bulgaria, Mr. Yury Chaika, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, and Mr. Sotir Tsatsarov, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Bulgaria, signed the Program of Cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Bulgaria for 2017-2019.

The Program determines general lines of cooperation on topical issues, namely, combating crime, protection of human rights and public interests, suppression of terrorism, drug trafficking, corruption and illegal migration.

The document provides for joint activity in training Bulgarian public prosecutors in the Academy of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, conducting round tables on themes: “Suppression of Terrorism Financing. Combating Radicalization and Violent Extremism: Experience of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Bulgaria”, “Experience of Anticorruption Laws’ Application. Vital Issues Pertaining to Prevention of Corruption, Return of Corruption Assets and Establishment of National Anticorruption Contact Points”, “Efforts of the Prosecution Services of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Bulgaria in Combating Transnational Organized Crime. Suppression of Illegal Migration by Means of Prosecutor’s Supervision”.

Moreover, there will be consultations on international legal cooperation in the area of extradition and legal assistance in criminal matters, including search, seizure, confiscation and return of property, obtained by crime.

During the second day of the visit the Russian delegation will meet with Ms. Iliana Yotova, Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Boyko Borisov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, Ms. Tsetska Tsacheva, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Bulgaria, as well as with Patriarch of all Bulgaria and Metropolitan of Sofia Neophyte.
