Working Meeting with the Officials of the Prosecution Services of the Member-States of the Eurasian Economic Union Held in the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation

Today, on March 28, 2018, the working meeting chaired by Mr. Igor Babaev, Head of the Department of Supervision over Execution of Laws on Transport and in the Customs Sphere was held with the officials of the Prosecution Services of the Member-States of the Eurasian Economic Union in the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation. The topical issues regarding the procuratorial supervision in the sphere of combating customs offences were discussed in the course of this meeting. The representatives of the substantive structures of the Prosecutor General’s Offices of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kirghizia and Russia took part in the work of the meeting.

The meeting was held pursuant to an initiative of the Russian party with a view to exchanging experience in the sphere of supervision over execution of the customs laws in connection with the entry into force of the new Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union.

The Participant of the discussion raised queries regarding the organization of the procuratorial supervision over execution, by the customs authorities, of the laws governing the issues of circulation of goods to the Member-States of the Eurasian Economic Union and third States. The attention was brought to the issues of countering customs offences in connection with the establishment of prohibitions and restrictions pertaining to the import of selected food products to Russia.

The Parties shared their experiences, exchanged their opinions concerning the most significant issues of the supervisory practice, and developed a mechanism of further interaction.

The outcomes of the meeting were positively evaluated by its participants. It was decided that such meetings would be held on a regular basis with a view to solving problems requiring joint deliberations.
