Meeting with the Cuban Prosecutors at the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation

The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation held a meeting with the Cuban prosecutors, who studied at the Department of Professional and Advanced Training of the University of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation.

Mr. Vladimir Malinovsky, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, Mr. Perez Lopes Luis Alberto, Chief Prosecutor of the Department for Supervision over Penitentiary Institutions of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Cuba, Mrs. Oksana Kapinus, Principal of the University of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation, Mr. Gerardo Penalver Portal, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba, as well as the subdivision executives of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and representatives of the Cuban delegation participated in the meeting.

Mr. Vladimir Malinovsky mentioned that Prosecutor’s Offices of Russia and Cuba have close, cordial and friendly relations, which are based on a long-term friendship between the Russian and Cuban nations.

The Agreement between the Prosecutor General’s Offices of Russia and Cuba, signed in 2011, serves as the basis for cooperation of prosecutors of both countries. A number of joint events, provided for by the Agreement, have already been carried out.

Moreover, it is planned to conduct a workshop in Havana, which will conclude the third program on cooperation between the Prosecutor’s Offices of Russia and Cuba, and the text of the forth program on cooperation for 2019-2020 is ready to be signed.

The draft program provides for the sharing of experience on supervision over observance of rights of economic entities and persons, carrying out entrepreneurship activity, on supervision over procedural activity of the preliminary investigation bodies and on participation of prosecutor’s offices in legislative activity.

The representatives of the Cuban delegation gave a high esteem to the education, organized by the University of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation.

In conclusion the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation confirmed that Russia aims at further development of cooperation between the Russian and Cuban prosecutors.
