The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation hosted the Russian-Hungarian roundtable on combating corruption

Within the framework of the Program of Cooperation between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Prosecutor General's Office of Hungary for 2017-2018, a round table was held in Moscow on "Analysis of legislation on combating corruption: aspects and prospects. Topical issues related to recovery of corruption assets and creation of national anti-corruption focal points."
The Russian delegation was represented by the members of the Department for Supervision over Compliance with Anti-Corruption Legislation and the Legal Department of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.
The Hungarian delegation was composed of Mr. János Homonnai, Head of the Unit, Department for Priority Cases, Combating Corruption and Organized Crime, the Prosecutor General 's Office of Hungary, Mr.Arpad Kish, Head of the Anti-Corruption Department, the Central Investigative Prosecutor's Office of Hungary, and Nr. Zholt Nemeth, prosecutor of the district investigative prosecutor's office in Kecskemet.
When opening the event, Head of the Department for Supervision over Compliance with Anti-Corruption Legislation of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation Alexander Rusetsky noted that the Prosecutor General's Offices of Russia and Hungary have been cooperating for more than 10 years. At the same time, mutual interest in combining efforts to counteract criminality is not limited to cooperation programs. Cooperation is actively developing in the sphere of criminal justice, legal assistance, protection of human rights and freedoms, the interests of society and the state, as well as combating corruption, both bilaterally and at international platforms.
Deputy Heads of the Department for Supervision over Compliance with Anti-Corruption Legislation of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation Valery Volkov and Sergey Ivanov spoke about the role of the prosecution authorities in countering violations of anti-corruption legislation outside the criminal law field, as well as aspects of Russian anti-corruption legislation. The representative of the legal department focused on the participation of prosecution bodies in improving Russian legislation on combating corruption.
Hungarian colleagues made presentations on analysis of anti-corruption legislation of Hungary, measures for seizure of corrupt assets, and international aspects of combating corruption.
During the round table, the parties exchanged their professional experience and opinions on the organization of prosecutorial supervision over the implementation of legislation on combating corruption, interaction with law enforcement agencies, and practices of international legal cooperation. Topical issues related to the return of corrupt assets and creation of national anti-corruption focal points were discussed.
As a result of the meeting, the parties reached agreed to continue effective cooperation.
