Meeting between Mr. Yury Chayka, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, and Mr. Zhang Jun, Prosecutor General of the People’s Republic of China

Today, within the framework of official visit of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Mr. Yury Chayka to the Republic of Tajikistan, he had a meeting with Mr. Zhang Jun, Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of the People’s Republic of China.
When delivering the welcoming speech, Mr. Yury Chayka gave high assessment to relations between the prosecutor’s offices of Russia and China, saying that they have multidimensional and dynamic nature.
He underlined that the dialog on the most topical issues of the prosecutorial activity between the two countries is based on mutual trust, respect and has a truly constructive and substantial character. For the last seven years three programs of interagency cooperation were implemented and the realization of the forth program for 2018-2019, signed last year, has already started.
The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation expressed the conviction that such an interaction is the earnest of success for consolidated activity on combating transnational crime, protection of human rights and freedoms.
During the meeting Mr. Yury Chayka reminded that last year in the course of the Brazilian meeting of the heads of prosecutor’s services of the BRICS and MERCOSUR States, the declaration was adopted. This declaration appeals to implement comprehensive measures aimed at protection of the Earth ecological system and at building the society based on respect towards the environmental protection legislation. One of the events of the interagency program, which is to take place in 2019 in Russia, will be dedicated to sharing of experience in this sphere. He offered conducting this event in Khabarovsk and to sign the joint plan of actions on improvement of legislation in the ecological sphere with the aim of protection of environment in the basin of the Amur River, which is the common heritage of Russia and China.
The Prosecutor General of Supreme People’s Procuratorate the People’s Republic of China Mr. Zhang Jun responded and expressed his gratitude to Mr. Yury Chayka for effective multidimensional cooperation between the prosecutor’s offices of two States.
At the end of the meeting Mr. Yury Chayka, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, confirmed the openness of the Russian prosecutor’s office for dialogue, and strong focus on the comprehensive development and strengthening of the Russian-Chinese cooperation.
