A meeting of the Russian-French working group took place

The 9th regular Meeting of the Working Group of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Justice of the French Republic on cooperation in the area of criminal justice was held at the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.

The French delegation was led by the Deputy Director of the Office of Criminal Matters and Pardons of the Ministry of Justice of the French Republic, Nathalie Ancel.

The meeting addressed practical aspects of the interaction between Russian and French competent authorities on the recovery of criminal assets from abroad, as well as issues of legal regulation, organization of work and powers of the prosecutor to protect the rights of citizens in criminal proceedings.

There was also an exchange of information on the progress of both Russian and French requests for extradition and provision of legal assistance in specific criminal cases.

The French colleagues were handed over the materials obtained in Russia within the framework of legal assistance, with regard to criminal matters investigated in France.

The participants discussed the prospects of extradition from France of a number of Russian citizens, whose extradition is being considered by the French authorities.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue cooperation and hold the next meeting of the working group in France in 2019.
