Mr. Yury Chayka, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, met with Mr. Muhammad Prasetyo, Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia

Today, on October 3, 2018, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation hosted a working meeting between Mr. Yury Chayka, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, and Mr. Muhammad Prasetyo, Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia.

Mr. Nikolay Vinnichenko, Deputy Prosecutor General, heads of divisions of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Russian Federation and other members of the Indonesian delegation took part in the meeting.

Mr. Yury Chayka noted that Russia and Indonesia have much in common, as well as further capabilities for successful dialogue, including in securing law and order.

Prosecutor General’s offices of Russia and Indonesia have been cooperating for a long time. The first Memorandum of Cooperation between the prosecution services was signed in Moscow, almost 12 years ago. Many things have been changed in the legislations of both countries; it has become necessary to conclude a new agreement, which will lay down guidelines for further developing interdepartmental cooperation.

He also emphasized that reliable partners are needed for combating transnational crime. In countering terrorism, corruption, cybercrime, drug trafficking and other modern threats we should not only consolidate our efforts but exchange good practices.

The meeting with Mr. Muhammad Prasetyo, Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia, resulted in signing the Memorandum of Cooperation between the prosecution services of Russia and Indonesia, which establishes guidelines and forms of development of the bilateral cooperation in combating crime and protection of human rights and freedoms.

Updated edition of the Memorandum provides for every opportunity for strengthening interdepartmental cooperation and finally increasing effectiveness of protection of interests of the both states.

Mr. Yury Chayka expressed his confidence that implementation of the Memorandum will bring up Russian-Indonesian relations to a new level and help to work out coordinated approaches to solving our tasks.

In conclusion, Mr. Yury Chayka, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, confirmed the firm determination to further development of cooperation between the prosecution services of Russia and Indonesia.
