Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Mr. Yury Chayka paid an official visit to the Republic of Serbia

Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Mr. Yury Chayka visited Belgrade.

He headed the delegation of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, which also comprised heads of divisions of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and other representatives of the supervision agency.

Mr. Yury Chayka held meetings with President of the Republic of Serbia Mr. Aleksandar Vučić, Minister of Interior – Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Mr. Nebojša Stefanović, Public Prosecutor of the Republic of Serbia Ms. Zagorka Dolovać, and Minister of Justice of the Republic of Serbia Ms. Nela Kuburović. The new Program on Cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Republic Public Prosecutors Office of Serbia was signed during the visit.

The head of the Russian delegation expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome, hospitality and cordiality. He underlined that the Russian-Serbian relations, based on the spiritual and cultural congeniality between the two nations, have a long history. Russian citizens treasure the memory of the common struggle against fascism during the Second World War and highly appreciate careful attitude towards the memory of soldiers, who fell in the battles for Belgrade and for the liberation of Yugoslavia.

He also noted the positive dynamic of the Russian-Serbian friendly relations, where the interaction in the law sphere has a significant place.

Declaration on strategic partnership between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Serbia provides for the development of large-scale interrelations in all spheres, including the fight against global challenges, in the first place – transnational crime, and in the legal sphere, particularly in the area of legal assistance in criminal cases.

The Program on Cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Republic Public Prosecutors Office of Serbia, signed today, stipulates for the conduct of a number of joint events in 2018-2019, which will be dedicated to the most topical directions of the prosecutorial activity.

Within the framework of its implementations, the Parties will exchange information on the best practice of combating organized crime, cyberterrorism, human trafficking and illegal migration, and legalization of proceeds of crime. It will be an important step towards solving large-scale tasks for further development of potential of the Russian-Serbian partnership.

In conclusion Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Mr. Yury Chayka reaffirmed his commitment to fully assist the further development of the strategic partnership between Russia and Serbia, including in the sphere of law, and wished the Serbian people peaceful skies, prosperity, wellbeing and stability.
