Today, on February, 14, 2019, Mr. Yury Chayka, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, met with Mr. Drago Šketa, State Prosecutor General of the Republic of Slovenia, in Ljubljana.
Mr. Yury Chayka headed the delegation of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, consisting of Mr. Leonid Korzhinek, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, Mr. Andrey Nekrasov, Head of the General Organizational and Analytical Department, Mr. Vyacheslav Mikheev, Head of the General Department of International Legal Cooperation, heads of other divisions of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and other representatives of the supervisory authority.
The Head of the Russian delegation thanked the Slovenian party for the invitation, warm welcome, sincere cordiality, and hospitality.
He noted that the long-lasting relations between our states are based on mutual trust, respect, and friendship. The mutual interest in further development of the Russian-Slovenian cooperation in different spheres was confirmed in the course of several meetings of the Heads of our states.
Mr. Yury Chayka expressed strong confidence that, acting alone, no state can effectively combat transnational crime and counter new challenges and threats. A success in this direction can be achieved only in the result of joined efforts, including efforts of prosecution services of different states. An important step on the way to achieving that goal was the signing in 2012 of the Agreement on cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Office of the State Prosecutor General of the Republic of Slovenia.
For the purposes of practical implementation of that Agreement and strengthening contacts between Russian and Slovenian prosecutors, the Program of cooperation between the authorities of the two countries for 2019 – 2020 was signed. Implementation of the actions provided for in the Program will allow exchanging the best practices of combatting corruption and money laundering, as well as countering terrorism. Its implementation will promote the further strengthening of partnership relations of Russian and Slovenian prosecutors, as well as the Russian-Slovenian relations in general.
The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation invited Mr. Drago Šketa to head the Slovenian delegation and to visit Russia in the framework of conducting in Moscow of the first Program event.
In conclusion, Mr. Yury Chayka told that the Russian party aims at development of the Russian-Slovenian cooperation in purposes of protection of human rights and freedoms, as well as public interests for the benefit of the peoples of the two states.
