Meeting between Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chayka and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey in the Russian Federation Mehmet Samsar

Today, on March 20, 2019, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chayka met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey in the Russian Federation Mehmet Samsar.
Head of the General Department of the International Legal Cooperation Vyacheslav Mikheev, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in the Russian Federation Namik Gebelek, heads and officers of structural divisions of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and representatives of the Turkish delegation also participated in the meeting.
During the welcoming word, the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation noted that, owing to the efforts of the superiors of Russia and Turkey, our countries conduct dialogue aimed at successful resolution of topical problems.
Yury Chayka pointed at the need to pay particular attention to the issues of cooperation in the legal sphere, on which the safety of citizens of both countries and effective combating new challenges and threats depends.
Moreover, the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation expressed his hope that the meeting will promote the effective implementation of the Protocol on Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Turkey. Yury Chayka paid attention to the need to ensure mutual understanding between the competent authorities of Russia and Turkey on the issues of extradition and legal assistance in criminal cases.
During the meeting, Russian prosecutors answered questions on international legal cooperation, asked by the Turkish delegation.
In conclusion, Yury Chayka confirmed that the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation aims at developing cooperation in the legal sphere for the benefit of the Russian and Turkish people.
