Agreement on cooperation was signed between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Nicaragua

Today, on March 12, 2019, a meeting of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chayka with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Nicaragua to the Russian Federation Аlba Azucena Torres Mejia was held in the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Nikolay Aleksandrovich Vinnichenko, the Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Nicaragua in the Russian Federation Mariana Jazmina Corea Lopez, heads of subdivisions of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and members of the Nicaraguan delegation.

In the course of the meeting, the parties signed the Agreement on cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Nicaragua.

The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation reminded that Russia and Nicaragua have 75-year diplomatic relations, wide experience of bilateral cooperation, common vision of political developments in the world.

Nicaragua was the first of the foreign countries to recognize the independence of the South Ossetia and Abkhazia, favoured the reunification of the Crimea with Russia.

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin, during his visit to Managua in 2014, at the meeting with the President Daniel Ortega, noted that Nicaragua is an important partner of our state in the Latin America, and the Russian-Nicaraguan relations have good potential for development, including the law-enforcement sphere.

The fight against crime, which does not recognize borders, should be waged jointly, based on international treaties, Yury Chayka stressed.
