Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chayka and Minister of Justice of the Kingdom of Spain Dolores Delgado Garcia signed interagency cooperation program

Today, on May 14, 2019 in the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation a meeting between Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chayka and Minister of Justice of the Kingdom of Spain Dolores Delgado Garcia took place.

Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Nikolay Vinnichenko, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Kingdom of Spain Cristina Latorre, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Spain to the Russian Federation Fernando Valderrama Pareja, heads and officers of structural divisions of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and members of the Spanish delegation also took part in the meeting.

During the welcoming speech, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chayka expressed his gratitude to the Spanish colleagues for accepting an invitation to visit Moscow in the context of continuation of joint activity on crime combating and protection of human rights.

Yury Chayka stressed out that Russia and Spain are not only friendly countries, but also reliable partners, actively cooperating in the economic, cultural, scientific and law enforcement spheres. Cooperation between the two States has a long-lasting history and is built on mutual trust, respect and friendship.

The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation noted that the Russian prosecutors pay particular attention to cooperation with the Spanish colleagues in the criminal law sphere. In general, such relations are developed in a constructive and effective way. A considerable basis of interagency agreements ensures such cooperation.

Yury Chayka also said that, in the modern world, where information technologies infilter all the spheres of our life, law enforcement bodies have to take adequate and timely measures for protection of human rights and interests of society and state from criminal encroachments.

Subject to mutual interest in continuation of joint activity, the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation suggested concluding an interagency cooperation program. Within the framework of its implementation, officers of the Prosecutor’s Office of Russia and the Ministry of Justice of Spain will be able to exchange experience on the most topical issues of their activity.

In conclusion, Yury Chayka noted that the conduct of events, provided by the program, would definitely raise the effectiveness of prosecutorial activity and would help to achieve success in combating modern challenges and threats. He confirmed that the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation is strongly committed to deepen and develop the Russian-Spanish relations.

Upon results of the meeting, the Parties signed the Program on Cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Justice of the Kingdom of Spain for 2019-2020.
