Co-operation Agreement between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Bulgaria has been signed today
Today Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika has met Prosecutor General of the Republic of Bulgaria Boris Velchev in Sofia, Republic of Bulgaria. During their meeting both counterparts signed a bilateral interdepartmental Agreement on Co-operation.
In his speech of welcome, Yuri Chaika noted that the Russian Federation and the Republic of Bulgaria had traditionally long-lasting friendly relations based on mutual interest in strengthening of democracy, international peace and security. “On my part, I am deeply satisfied that the relations between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Bulgaria may be characterized as strategic partnership”, underlined the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation.
Yuri Chaika expressed hope that the Agreement signed that day would serve as one more step toward enhancement of efficient interaction between the law-enforcement authorities of Russia and Bulgaria.
In compliance with the Agreement, the parties shall co-operate in combating crime, terrorism, corruption, transnational organized crime, human trafficking, trafficking in arms, drugs and psychotropic substances, economic and high-tech crimes, and other crimes posing a great threat to the society.
The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Bulgaria will, as agreed, share information ensuring the protection of human rights and freedoms of a person and citizen, co-operate in extradition and legal assistance in criminal matters, organize scientific research of problems of mutual interest.
The parties intend to hold workshops, expert meetings, and exchange legislative and other regulatory legal acts, methodic materials, study materials and scientific publications.
