Russian national Magomed BAYMURZAYEV, accused of an attempted murder, has been extradited to the Russian Federation from Germany

By request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany have extradited Russian national Magomed BAYMURZAYEV to Russia.
The investigation accuses Mr. BAYMURZAYEV of the crimes stipulated in Art. 222 part 1 (unlawful acquisition of firearms), Art. 30 part 3, Art. 105 part 1 (attempted murder) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
According to the investigation, in March 2015, in the premises of restaurant in the city of Grozny, Mr. BAYMURZAYEV captured a weapon of a Road Police Inspector and fired several times at his female acquaintance towards whom he was hostile. Thanks to competent medical assistance the victim survived.
Since Mr. BAYMURZAYEV had escaped from criminal prosecution he was placed on an international wanted list.
In January 2017, he was located in Germany; the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation submitted a formal request for his extradition to the competent authorities of Germany.
As a result of close cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the competent authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany, in June 2018, the extradition was granted.
The criminal case against Mr. BAYMURZAYEV is pending in the Investigative Division for the Leninsky District of Grozny, Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Chechen Republic.
Mr. BAYMURZAYEV has been convoyed to Moscow.
