On December 28, 2016, upon the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation the competent authorities of the French Republic extradited Russian national Gleb Drobilenko to Russia.

The Russian authorities incriminate him the crime stipulated in Articles 30(3) and 159(4) (attempted fraud, committed by an organized group in conspiracy, in especially large amount) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

The criminal case against Drobilenko is inquiring into by the Moscow Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

According to an investigative body, from July to September 2012, Drobilenko, together with his accomplices, following the plan worked out in advance, promised the Director General of the Opened Joint-Stock Company, which was founded by the Russian Federation represented by the Federal Agency for National Property Managing (Rosimuschestvo), to secure prolongation of his term of office. The victim was demanded to pay 45 million roubles for this “service” to Gleb Drobilenko and his accomplices through certain officials of Rosimuschestvo. However, the above persons were not going to fulfill their promise, since they had no adequate powers.

One of the accomplices was arrested by the law-enforcement agencies when receiving money from the victim.

Drobilenko absconded from criminal prosecution and left Russia. In October 2012, he was declared wanted on the national level and on April 2013 – on the international level.

In November 2015, Drobilenko was detained in France.

In December 2015, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation forwarded a request for his extradition to Russia to the competent authorities of the French Republic. In December 2016, the extradition was granted.

Gleb Drobilenko, escorted by officers of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service and National Central Bureau of Interpol, was extradited to Russia.
