Extradition of the Russian citizen Stanislav Moloko, charged with cocaine smuggling, from France to Russia

28 december 2016, 20:27

Today, on December 28, 2016 upon the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation the competent French authorities extradited Russian citizen Stanislav Moloko to Russia.

The investigative authorities accuse him of committing crimes, punishable under Article 188 part 4 (smuggling, committed as part of an organized group), Article 228 part 4 (illegal acquisition, storage with the aim of selling, transportation and sending of a narcotic drug at an especially large scale, committed as part of an organized group) of the Russian Criminal Code.

Investigative Service of the Department of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation for Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Oblast is examining a criminal case against Moloko.

The investigators believe that in December 1997 Moloko conspired with other persons to commit cocaine smuggling at an especially large scale from Venezuela to Russia with the aim of its further selling. To this effect in December 1997 his accomplices sent from Venezuela to Saint Petersburg pieces of furniture with cocaine amounting to about 10 kilogram inside.

On January 23, 1998 the said cargo arrived at the Pulkovskiy custom house of Saint Petersburg, where on January 29, 1998 the necessary customs documents were processed. However, the fact of transportation of narcotic drugs was concealed. Pieces of furniture stuffed with cocaine were loaded into cars for further transportation, however while leaving the customs storage the person accompanying the cargo, member of the organized group, was arrested by the officers of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation.

Since Moloko flaw from prosecution and left the territory of the Russian Federation, in February 1998 he was declared wanted on a national level and in January 2001 he was declared internationally wanted.

In September 2015 he was arrested on the territory of France.

In October 2015 the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation sent a request for his extradition to the competent authorities of the French Republic and the request was satisfied in December 2016.

Stanislav Moloko accompanied by the officers of the federal Penitentiary Service of Russia and the Russian Interpol Bureau was extradited to Russia.
