A representative of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation took part in the 8th session of the Implementation Review Group of the United Nations Convention against Corruption

On June 19-23, 2017, Mr. Aleksandr RUSETSKY, Head of the Department of Supervision over the Compliance with the Anti-Corruption Legislation of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, took part in the 8th session of the Implementation Review Group of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, held in Vienne, Austria.

During the session there was a sortition, resulted in determination of Albania and Zimbabwe as states that will conduct the review of implementation by the Russian Federation of Chapter II “Preventive measures” and Chapter V “Asset recovery” of the United Nations Convention against Corruption.

The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation was appointed the head agency responsible for the reviewing. Relevant preparation to the evaluation procedure has already started in cooperation with the state bodies concerned.

Moreover, within the framework of the session the following issues were discussed: preparing to the 7th session of the Conference of member states of the UN Convention against Corruption; functioning of the Mechanism for the Review of Implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption; rendering technical assistance to the member states of the Convention in implementation of its provisions and passing through the review, etc.

On the sidelines of the session there were also consultations between the Russian delegation, the Secretariat of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and representatives of the delegations of Albania and Zimbabwe.

International cooperation against corruption and maintaining of the high level of authority of the Russian Federation in its implementation remains one of the priorities for the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation.
