Mr. Yury Chayka, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, met Mr. Jürgen Stock, Secretary General of INTERPOL, in the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation.
Mr. Saak Karapetyan, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, Mr. Victor Grin, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, heads of the divisions of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the officers of INTERPOL participated in this event as well.
In his speech Mr. Yury Chayka noted the constructive character of collaboration with the heads of INTERPOL and expressed hope for the common approaches to solving complicated issues pertaining to search for individuals charged with the commission of crimes in Russia, via INTERPOL channels to preserve.
He highlighted the community of interests in effectively combating crime, ensuring the principle of the inevitability of punishment and human rights protection that should facilitate consensus pertaining to solving issues regarding the search for individuals put on the international wanted list by the Russian law enforcement authorities.
The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation also pointed out the necessity of scrupulous attention to the issue of protection of victim’s rights, including in the rights set forth in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, particularly the right to life and security of person.
He emphasized the impermissibility of violation of the Constitution of INTERPOL.
Mr. Yury Chayka proposed that the cooperation issues be considered at the nearest Executive Committee meeting or the INTERPOL General Assembly session.
In conclusion, the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation highly commended the contribution of Mr. Jürgen Stock towards combating transnational crime, including in the way of improvement of the system and instruments of collaboration within the framework of INTERPOL.
Mr. Yury Chayka expressed confidence that even greater results would be achieved if the joint efforts be addressed towards the enhancement of the effectiveness of international search and protection of victims from criminal activities.
