Mr. Yury Chaika, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, met with Mr. Zhang Jun, Minister of Justice of the People’s Republic of China

Today, on November 2, 2017, in the premises of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, Mr. Yury Chaika, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, met with Mr. Zhang Jun, Minister of Justice of the People’s Republic of China.

Mr. Saak Karapetyan, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, Mr. Kan Youyi, Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Justice of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Fangqiu Su, Counselor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Russian Federation, as well as officials of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and representatives of the Chinese delegation took part in the meeting.

The Prosecutor General noted that combating crime, recognizing no state borders, including terrorism, activity on protection of rights and legitimate interests of citizens should be exercised on consolidated basis in accordance with international treaties and national legislation currently in force.

This is the work that can be done only with the help of faithful and reliable partners, as Russia and China are for each other.

Mr. Yury Chaika stressed that the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation has established close cooperation with the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of the People’s Republic of China that keeps developing.

During the meeting representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation acquainted representatives of the Chinese delegation with the structure and organization of the Russian prosecution service. In particular, cooperation with the judicial system and participation in legislative process were introduced.

Mr. Zhang Jun and his colleagues told of organization of work in the Ministry of Justice of the People’s Republic of China.

Finally, Mr. Yury Chaika voiced his confidence that the meeting will contribute to further development of Russian-Chinese relations in the sphere of law.
