The event was also attended by Prosecutor General of the Republic of South Ossetia Uruzmag Jagayev, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Saak Karapetyan, Rector of the Academy of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Oksana Kapinus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Russian Federation Znaur Gassiev, heads of the structural subdivisions of the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia and representatives of the South Ossetian delegation.
The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation expressed his confidence that the meeting would contribute to further deepening of Russian-South Ossetian relations.
He said that interaction between the states in the legal sphere is one of the key components of mutual cooperation of states.
Yuri Chaika stressed that combating crime, which is a cross border challenge, including fighting terrorism, the activities to protect the rights and legitimate interests of citizens should be carried out in a consolidated manner. This work can only be managed today with the help of reliable partners, and the peoples of Russia and South Ossetia have long-standing friendly relations.
During the event, Prosecutor General of South Ossetia handed over to Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation the Program of Cooperation between the Prosecutor-General's Offices of the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Ossetia for 2018-2019 signed on 15 December 2017.
In addition, the President of the Republic of South Ossetia awarded Yuri Chaika the Order of Friendship for his great personal contribution to the development of relations of friendship and cooperation between the peoples of the two countries, the assistance provided to law enforcement bodies in maintaining law and order in the territory of the republic.
