Russian National Yury Shurupov, Accused of Attempted Murder, deported from USA to Russia

Today, on May 1, 2018, the US competent authorities deported Russian national Yury Shurupov to Russia.

He is accused of a crime envisaged by Article 30 part 3, Article 105 part 1 (attempted murder) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

The investigative authority believes that in January 2016 Mr. Shurupov stabbed his acquaintance in the chest with the aim to kill in his house in Khabarovsk, but the injured person came out with life since he timely received medical assistance.

The accused person escaped from prosecution and in December 2016 he was declared internationally wanted.

In March 2017 Mr. Shurupov was detained on the territory of the USA.

Thanks to the interaction of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation with the competent US authorities in this case and given the materials provided by the Russian party it became possible to secure the decision in favor of deportation of Mr. Shurupov.

The criminal case against Mr. Shurupov is pending at the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Khabarovsk Region.

He was brought to Russia accompanied by the officers of the competent US authorities.
