French National Jean-Michel Cosnuau extradited from Kingdom of Morocco to Russian Federation

Today, on April 26, 2018, upon the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation the competent authorities of the Kingdom of Morocco are extraditing French national Jean-Michel Cosnuau to Russia.
The investigative authorities charge him with committing crimes envisaged by Article 35 part 3, Article 241 part 2 point “a”, Article 228 part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
According to the investigative authorities Cosnuau being an art-director of the Kuznetsky Most-19 LLC created a criminal group. The accomplices kept a brothel with the aim of organizing prostitution activities. The brothel activity was identified by the police officers in the course of a number of investigative operations.
In the period up to October 1, 2015 they had involved girls-dancers to work in the brothel who had been rendering services of sexual character.
Moreover, Cosnuau illegally acquired and stored substantial amount of narcotic drugs that were found and confiscated by the law enforcement authorities during the search.
Since Cosnuau had escaped from prosecution, he was declared internationally wanted.
In August 2017 the accused was detained on the territory of Morocco and thereafter the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation sent a request for extradition to the competent authorities of this state.
In March 2018 the Moroccan party granted the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation for the first time in 7 years.
The criminal case is pending at the General Investigative Department of the General Departmenti of the MIA of Russia for the city of Moscow.
