Russian national Artur Dirko accused of preparation for sale of psychotropic substances in especially large amount has been extradited from the Republic of Finland to the Russian Federation

Today, on March 29, 2018, Russian national Artur Dirko has been extradited from the Republic of Finland by the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation.
He is accused of the crime, stipulated in Art. 30 part 1, Art. 228.1 part 5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (preparation for unlawful production, sale or sending of narcotic and psychotropic substances and their analogues, as well as preparation for illegal sale or sending of plants, containing narcotic or psychotropic substances, or their parts, containing narcotic or psychotropic substances, committed in especially large amount).
According to the investigation, in May 2015, Mr. Dirko by preliminary agreement with other persons prepared for unlawful sale of about 1 kilo of psychotropic substance (amphetamine) in the Republic of Karelia. The offenders did not manage to complete the crime since on May 26, 2015, one of the accomplices was arrested during a law-enforcement operation and the psychotropic substance was seized.
Since Mr. Dirko escaped from the law-enforcement authorities he was declared wanted.
In April 2017, he was located in Finland and the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation submitted a request for extradition of the fugitive to the competent authorities of the Republic.
In March 2018, due to coordinated actions of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and close cooperation with the competent authorities of the Republic of Finland the extradition of Mr. Dirko was granted.
Criminal case against Mr. Dirko is inquired into by the Investigative Unit of the Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Karelia.
Today Artur Dirko convoyed by competent officers has been extradited to Moscow.
