Tragic death of Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Saak Albertovich Karapetyan

On 3 October 2018, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, 1st Class State Counselor of Justice, Saak Albertovich Karapetyan, tragically died at the age of 58.

Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika expressed his deep condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased.

Saak Albertovich Karapetyan was born on 28 March 1960, in the village of Sovetsky, Egorlyk District, Rostov Region. After graduating from Rostov State University in 1983 with a degree in legal science he began his career as assistant prosecutor of the Rostov Region Prosecutor's Office. In 1996 - 2000, he was Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Security. In 2002, he continued service in the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, held the positions of the Head of the Legal Support Department, Senior Assistant to the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation - Plenipotentiary Representative in the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. From 2004 to 2006, he was Head of the Department of Legislative Activities, Director of the Department of International Law and Cooperation of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation. From 2006 to 2016, he headed the General Department of International Legal Cooperation of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation. In 2016, he was appointed Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation.

Saak Albertovich made a significant contribution to ensuring law and order, promotion of international legal cooperation, enhancing the international prestige of Russia, the rule of law and protection of human rights.

He was distinguished by high performance, ability to support, appreciate and respect people, firmness in upholding the ideals of good, justice and legality.

His professionalism, a high sense of responsibility for the assigned area of ​​work have been repeatedly honoured by the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation.

For special personal merit to the Motherland, long-term conscientious service and high results achieved in the exercise of his duties, he was awarded the Order of Honor, Friendship, he was designated "Honored Lawyer of the Russian Federation", "Honored Prosecutor of the Prosecution Service of the Russian Federation."

We will remember him as an honest, wise, open, bright and cheerful person, who has completely fulfilled his duty to the Motherland.

The bright memory of Saaak Albertovich will forever remain in our hearts.
