Owing to the interaction between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Belarus, a judgment of conviction was issued against the citizen of Belarus who committed a crime in Russia

The Judicial Chamber on Criminal Cases of the Vitebsk Regional Court, the Republic of Belarus passed a sentence against the Belarusian national Dmitry Korolev.

He was found guilty of attempted murder of two or more persons, as well as of the murder of two persons committed with particular cruelty, by a group of persons by prior collusion, in the territory of the Russian Federation, and was sentenced to 17 years of imprisonment with serving a sentence in a strict-regime correctional colony.

In 2017, after Korolev was established in the territory of the Republic of Belarus, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation transmitted the case files and the request for conducting his criminal prosecution to the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Belarus. The transfer was based on the 1993 Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Matters.

The criminal case was investigated by the Investigative Unit for the city of Volokolamsk, the General Investigative Department for the Moscow Region, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
