Russian citizen accused of large scale fraud was extradited to Russia from Germany

At the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany extradited to Russia the RF citizen Valery Markovkin.
He is accused of the crime covered by Article 159 (4) (fraud on a large scale) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
According to the investigation, from January 2015 to July 2017, Mr. Markovkin, Director of OOO "Express", received money funds for the construction of residential and non-residential premises in the city of Veliky Novgorod, under co-investment agreements for construction of residential and non-residential premises, in the amount of at least 64 million rubles, which he stole.
As Markovkin hid from the preliminary investigation, he was put on the international wanted list.
In July 2018, he was detained in Germany, after which the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation sent a request with the view of his criminal prosecution.
Thanks to the clear and coordinated efforts of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation in cooperation with the competent authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany it was possible to secure a decision on his extradition in January 2019.
Accompanied by a special convoy, Valery Markovkin was brought to Moscow.
