Russian citizen accused of murder and illegal trafficking in firearms was extradited from Italy to Russia

Today, on 15 February 2019, at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of the Italian Republic extradited to Russia the RF citizen Murad Isakov.
He is accused of commission of the crimes provided for by Article 105 (murder) and Article 222 (1) (illegal trafficking in firearms) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
According to the investigators, in summer 2012, Isakov decided to kill a resident of the city of Izberbash (Dagestan) who made an insulting remark in relation to him.
Executing the contemplated, in September 2012, he came up to the car, parked in the yard of a house on Lenin Street, at the wheel of which the insulter was sitting, and fired not less than 7 shots at him from Makarov gun. The man died on scene from the multiple gunshot wounds.
After that, Isakov absconded from the law-enforcement agencies. The measure of restriction in the form of detention was ordered for him, and he was placed on the international wanted list.
In December 2018, he was detained in the territory of that state, and in connection with that, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation requested his extradition.
Thanks to the clear and coordinated actions of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and to the close cooperation with the competent authorities of the Italian Republic, it was possible to secure a decision on his extradition in a short time.
Accompanied by a special convoy, Murad Isakov was brought to Moscow.
