Russian national, accused of robbery, extradited from Poland

Competent authorities of the Republic of Poland extradited to Russia its national, Gedevan Kutalia, upon a request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation.
He is accused of perpetration of a crime, envisaged by Article 162 part 4 para “b” (robbery) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Under the information of the investigation, in August 2004 in Surgut, Mr. Kutalia and his accomplices, having the information that the victim of a crime had an especially large sum of money, gained as the result of property deal, throw her from a car and stole more than one million rubles from her. After that they drove away from the crime scene on a car, prepared beforehand.
Since Mr. Kutalia escaped from the preliminary investigation bodies, he was declared internationally wanted.
In October 2018 he was detained on the territory of Poland, and the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation sent a request for his extradition for the purpose of brining him to criminal justice.
Owing to efficient and coordinated activities of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and competent authorities of the Republic of Poland, a positive decision on his extradition was taken.
Being escorted by the specially designated officers, Gedevan Kutalia was brought to Moscow.
