Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika met with Attorney General of the Republic of Cuba Yamila Pena Ojeda

Today, on 27 May 2019, a meeting was held at the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation between Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika and Attorney General of the Republic of Cuba Yamila Pena Ojeda.

The event was also attended by Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Nikolai Vinnichenko, Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in the Russian Federation Barabara Sarabia Martinez, heads of departments of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation and representatives of the delegation of the Republic of Cuba.

Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Yakovlevich Chaika noted the high level of cooperation between the prosecution services of Russia and Cuba. The relations between the agencies are intense and at the same time are friendly and trusting.

Yuri Chaika recalled that from 2011, since the signing of the interagency cooperation agreement, joint events, meetings and exchange of visits have been held every year.

One of the most effective forms of interaction between the Prosecutor General's Offices of Russia and Cuba has been the implementation of interagency cooperation programs, three of which have been successfully implemented, and the fourth is to be completed this autumn.

Yuri Chaika stated that Russian prosecutors are actively sharing their work experience and knowledge with Cuban colleagues, including through advance professional training at the University of the Prosecution Service of the Russian Federation.

Sixth years running, groups of Cuban prosecutors have been attending this training.

Training programs are constantly being improved and compiled taking into account the interests of foreign partners. This year, a visit is planned to the Moscow Prosecutor's Office to get acquainted with its work.

In addition, meetings with the leaders of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation are also organized for students from the Cuban Attorney's Office during the training process.

In addition, delegations of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, generally headed by one of the Deputy Prosecutors General of the Russian Federation, take part in international conferences on criminal matters organized by the Attorney General of the Republic of Cuba.

Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika expressed hope for continued joint and fruitful work with the Attorney General of the Republic of Cuba.

Yuri Chaika confirmed his firm focus on the comprehensive deepening and development of Russian-Cuban relations in the legal area.
