Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chayka met Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan Zakir Garalov

Today, on June 24, 2019 the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chayka met with the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan Zakir Garalov.
The event was attended by the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Nikolay Vinnichenko, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Director of the Anti-Corruption Directorate with the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Azerbaijani ambassador to Russia Polad Biilbuloglu, heads of the departments of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and representatives of the Azerbaijani delegation.
Yury Chayka thanked the Azerbaijani counterpart for the acceptance of the invitation.
He noted that regular meetings of the heads of two states provide serious momentum to the development of the Russian-Azerbaijani contacts on different levels. During the last of it it was mentioned that the today state of relations of Russia and Azerbaijan allows to resolve the issues of cooperation in all spheres.
The Russian Federation and the Republic of Azerbaijan are bound by old traditions of friendly relations based on mutual interest in strengthening of peace and international safety.
The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation reminded that the cooperation of prosecutor’s offices of two countries is carried out within the framework of the Coordinating Council of Prosecutors General of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO). The partnership through the International Association of Prosecutors develops successfully.
Working together on these international platforms two countries are moving toward achieving of mutual aims - triumph of justice, compliance with the principle of inevitability of punishment of criminals, effective protection of citizens’ rights and freedoms, interests of the society and state.
Moreover in 1993 an Agreement on Legal Assistance and Cooperation between the Prosecutor’s Offices of Russia and Azerbaijan was signed. However, the criminal world is not standing still. Recognizing the necessity of an adequate response to new threats and challenges the prosecutors of two countries finished the work on the new Agreement.
Yury Chayka expressed his confidence that signing of a new Agreement today will allow to use the potential of the joint activities of the prosecution bodies of Russia and Azerbaijan to ensure the rule of law more effectively.
In conclusion he confirmed the firm determination to further development and strengthening of cooperation between the prosecution offices of Russia and Azerbaijan and stressed that joint efforts will help to solve the emerging problems effectively and implement joint tasks.
