Today, on September 3, 2019, a working meeting with the representatives of the Supreme People’s Procuracy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam was held at the premises of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation. The event was attended by Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Nikolay Vinnichenko, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Bui Manh Cuong, officers of the Prosecutor General of Russia and representatives of the Vietnamese delegation.

The meeting was part of the implementation of the Cooperation Program between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Supreme People’s Procuracy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for 2018-2019. In the form of the seminar, which was the final event envisaged by the Cooperation Program, the following topic was discussed: “Organization of prosecutorial supervision over the lawfulness of the execution of criminal sentences and the detention of suspected and accused of crimes”.

Russian and Vietnamese prosecutors exchanged views on prevailing working methods and best practices for ensuring the guaranteed rights of citizens in penitentiary institutions, and expressed confidence that the event would be of practical importance for both parties, and the information received would be put into practice.

Summing up the work, both sides noted the effectiveness of the existing practice of sharing experience of prosecutorial activities in the form of bilateral consultations.

In order to further strengthen the professional contacts of the prosecutors of Russia and Vietnam, the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Nikolay Vinnichenko and the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Bui Manh Cuong signed the third interagency Cooperation Program.

As part of its implementation, in 2020-2022 a discussion will be organized on the most acute problems, including in the field of environmental and information security.

Nikolay Vinnichenko noted that the relations between the prosecution service of Russia and Vietnam are truly friendly and constructive in nature, as well as the focus on their further dynamic development, including at multilateral international venues, in particular through the International Association of Prosecutors.
