On extradition to Russia from Israel of the citizen of the Russian Federation Mr. Gleb Grozovskiy accused of committing of sexual crimes in respect of minors
Today on 7 September 2016 on request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation the competent authorities of the State of Israel extradite to Russia citizen of the Russian Federation Mr. Gleb Grozovskiy.
Investigation authorities accuse him of committing of crimes provided in Article 132 (“b”, 4) (violent actions of sexual character, that is other actions of sexual character, using helpless state of victim, committed in respect of person who had not reached 14 years) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Criminal matter in respect of Mr. Grozovskiy is investigated by the Department for Investigation of Major Cases of the General Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Saint-Petersburg.
According to Investigation version in summer 2011 on the territory of the orthodox children’s camp situated on the island Konevets of the Priozersk District of the Leningrad Region Mr. Grozovskiy being a clergyman of the Voznesensky (Sophiysky) Cathedral in the Tsarskoe Selo of the religious organization “Metropolitanate of Saint-Petersburg” of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) committed violent actions of sexual character in respect of several persons, who hadn’t reached age of 14 years.
Similar actions were committed by Mr. Grozovskiy in June 2013 on the territory of the Hellenic Republic in camp of the orthodox child-and-youth club “Philadelphia” where he was Superior of the Cathedral of Saint Martyr Ioan Voin of the Religious organization Gatchinsky Eparchy of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate).
As Mr. Grozovsky had escaped criminal prosecution in October 2013 he was declared internationally wanted.
In April 2014 in connection with establishing of his location in the State of Israel the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation forwarded to the competent authorities of this state request for his extradition which was satisfied in September 2016.
Today accompanied by officers of the Federal Service for Execution of Punishments of Russia and the Russian Bureau of Interpol Mr. Grozovsky is extradited to Russia.
