A meeting between the representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Finland held in Moscow

The working meeting in the workshop format pertaining to the issues of improvement of cooperation in the field of fight against illegal migration and human trafficking was held with the delegation of the Republic of Finland in the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation. The workshop took place within the framework of the implementation of the Programme on Cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Finland for the period of 2016-2019.

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Vadim Ovchinnikov, First Deputy Chief of the General Department for Supervision over Criminal Procedural Activities of the Bodies of Preliminary Investigation and Operational and Search Activities.

The Finnish delegation was chaired by Ms. Marina Venäläinen, Ministerial Adviser of the Unit for General International and EU Affairs of the Ministry of Justice, and it also comprised Ms. Merja Norros, Head of the Unit of International Legal Assistance of the Department of Judicial Administration of the Ministry of Justice, Mr. Juhani Korhonen, Counsellor of the Unit of International Legal Assistance of the Department of Judicial Administration of the Ministry of Justice and a number of other officials.

The issues pertaining to the promotion of mutual contacts in the field of fight against illegal migration and trafficking were discussed during the meeting that brought together the heads and officers of the structural divisions of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation. Furthermore, there was an exchange of experience regarding the implementation of the norms of international law into domestic legislation.
