Russian convicted of commission of grave and especially grave crimes was extradited from Japan to Russia

At the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of Japan extradited a citizen of the Russian Federation Vladimir Zolenko to Russia.
By the judgement of the Sakhalin Regional Court of June 10, 2011, he was sentenced, under Article 166 (3) (unlawful occupancy of a car or of any other transport vehicle, without the purpose of stealing (hijacking), committed by an organized group), Article 210 (1) (creation of a criminal community (criminal organization) for the purpose of committing grave or especially grave crimes, operation of such a community (organization)), and Article 105 (1) (murder) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, to 19 years of imprisonment in a correctional colony of strict regime.
Since Zolenko had absconded from the court, he was put on the wanted list.
In January 2018, he was located in the territory of Japan, and the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation sent a request for extradition of the accused, which was granted in November 2019.
Vladimir Zolenko was brought to Moscow accompanied by officers of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia and the Russian Bureau of Interpol.
