08 april 2021, 12:52
Upon request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation competent authorities of the Republic of Armenia extradited Oganes Aleksanyan to Russia.
He is accused of perpetration of a crime, envisaged by Article 264.1 (car driving in the state of alcohol intoxication by a person who has been subjected to an administrative punishment for failure to satisfy legal demand of an authorized official to undergo a medical survey as to the state of intoxication) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
According to the investigation, in April 2019, Mr. Aleksanyan, being subjected to administrative punishment and being aware of inadmissibility to drive in the state of alcohol intoxication, again intentionally committed the same violation. After that he was detained by a police officer, but in the presence of witnesses refused to undergo a medical survey as to the state of intoxication.
Since Mr. Aleksanyan escaped from the preliminary investigation bodies, he was declared internationally wanted.
In January 2020 he was detained on the territory of Armenia, and Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation sent foreign colleagues a request for his extradition.
Afterwards they received a competitive request for extradition of Mr. Aleksanyan from the competent authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany.
As the arguments for positive examination and satisfaction of the Russian request for extradition the requested Party took into account the fact that, in compliance with the Russian legislation, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation confirmed its readiness to examine the issue of making Mr. Aleksanyan criminally liable upon materials of the Federal Republic of Germany, which could be transmitted by the German party under the established procedure.
Owing to the close cooperation with the competent authorities of the Republic of Armenia, organized by the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, positive decision on extradition was taken; the German party request was refused.
Oganes Aleksanyan will be escorted to Moscow by the special convoy officers.
