Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov visited Republic of Armenia

In April 8, 2021, at the invitation of Artur Davtyan, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, Igor Krasnov, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation paid an official visit to Yerevan.
During the visit a meeting between superiors of the Russian and Armenian prosecutors services was hold; the Parties discussed the most topical issues of protection of human rights and law enforcement activity of prosecutors, and outlined ways for further cooperation in bilateral format and on multilateral international fora.
Upon results of the meeting, the Parties signed the Statement of intent to develop cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia. In particular, the document provides for possibility to organize advanced training for officers of prosecutor’s services of Russia and Armenia.
This Statement is quite topical in light of the status of basic organization of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States on training, retraining and advanced training of officers of prosecutor’s services granted to the University of Prosecutor’s Service of the Russian Federation in December 2020 by the CIS Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs.
The Russian Prosecutor General invited his Armenian counterpart to participate in the forthcoming Conference of Heads of Prosecutor’s Offices of the European States, which is organized by the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation in conjunction with the Council of Europe and International Association of Prosecutors in Saint Petersburg this July.
This was the second meeting of Igor Krasnov and Artur Davtyan this year. In January the head of the Armenian prosecutor’s service visited Moscow to participate in ceremonial events dedicated to the 299th Anniversary of the Russian prosecutor’s service, and in the trilateral Russian-Armenian-Azerbaijani meeting.
Within the framework of the visit, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov was received by Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.
Igor Krasnov thanked the Armenian leader for the meeting and stressed out that the cooperation between prosecutor’s services of Russia and Armenia was being built on a genuine partnership and trusting nature.
He paid attention to active cooperation within the Commonwealth of Independent States, Eurasian Economic Union, Council of Europe and International Association of Prosecutors for the purposes of improvement of efforts on combating transnational crime.
Prosecutor General underlined the important mission entrusted to prosecutors on ensuring the rule of law, having indicated unconditional priority to implement arrangements of leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan for normalization of situation in Nagorny Karabakh firstly for humanitarian issues resolution.
Igor Krasnov confirmed his intent to continue constructive dialogue on all directions of cooperation for sustainable development of both states.
