At the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation competent authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany extradited to Russia Marat Rukhanen, national of the Russian Federation and Finland.
He is accused of crimes, envisaged by Article 132 part 2 paragraph “a” (violent actions of sexual nature) and Article 131 part 2 paragraph “a” (rape) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
According to the investigation authorities, in August 2018, Mr. Rukhanen, in preliminary concert with another person, raped a woman in a Moscow apartment.
Since Mr. Rukhanen escaped from the law enforcement bodies, he was declared wanted.
In November 2020 he was detained on the territory of Germany, and the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation sent to the competent authorities of this state a request for his extradition with the view of making him criminally liable.
Owing to coordinated activities of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and well-organized close cooperation with the competent authorities of Germany and Finland, in June 2021 the request was complied with.
Marat Rukhanen will be escorted to Moscow by the officers of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia and Russian Interpol Bureau.
